Minding the Gaps in the Florida Wildlife Corridor

The Florida Wildlife Corridor is 18 million acres of connected land and water that represent our best opportunity to safeguard a biodiverse, sustainable, wild Florida for future generations. The Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation (FWCF) combines conservation science with collaborative planning to elevate the work of partners and landowners throughout the Corridor.

Mind the Gaps Workshops, hosted by the FWCF with partners, advance and accelerate conservation solutions aimed at closing priority gaps in the Corridor through collaborative local engagement. They build stakeholders’ capacity to use science and data to identify highly urgent and vulnerable areas within the Corridor. This precedes a participatory mapping exercise that identifies opportunities for Corridor conservation and novel solutions. The workshops engage with and build on the expert knowledge of an array of stakeholders, including landowners, agriculture communities, land trusts, scientists (e.g. wildlife biologists and ecologists), planners, developers, and NGOs.
