Angela S. Knowles, AICP

Angela is a licensed professional planner in New Jersey and a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners since 2010. She began her career at the former Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association (now The Watershed Institute), where she expanded the municipal planning program. In 2006, Angela joined Banisch Associates, Inc. in Flemington, NJ, gaining experience in municipal planning and helping towns develop plans and ordinances to protect natural resources. Angela has been a dedicated volunteer for Sustainable Jersey, contributing to the Land Use & Transportation actions and chairing the APANJ’s Sustainability Committee, where she led the creation of the Green Building & Environmental Sustainability Plan Guidance Document. These roles gave her valuable experience in project management, public speaking, and community engagement. In 2016, Angela joined Van Cleef Engineering Associates eventually becoming Director of Planning Services, overseeing planning and GIS groups for municipal clients for six years. In 2024 she founded ASK Community Planners, LLC, focusing on municipal planning. Angela is currently the Project Director for Plan4HealthNJ, aiming to advance health equity in New Jersey. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and making music with her husband and two kids.
