I am Reshma Afroz Rimi, MURP Student and Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Community and Regional Planning at Alabama A&M University, with an emerging urban planning professional specializing in GIS, spatial analytics, and sustainable development. With over two years of experience as a Junior Urban Planner and Assistant GIS Specialist, I have contributed to major initiatives including the Integrated City Master Plan for Dhaka (2020–2050) and Bangladesh’s National Digital Land Zoning Project. Reshma is skilled in ArcGIS, Python automation, and data-driven planning strategies that enhance workflow efficiency and support resilient, inclusive communities.
My current thesis explores developing a composite walkability scoring framework using Google Street View imagery, Sentinel-2 NDVI, parcel-level land use data, and deep learning models to evaluate pedestrian accessibility in underserved yet socially active areas of Huntsville, Alabama. Through this work, I aim to generate actionable insights for improving equitable urban mobility and public space planning. I have presented one of the part of my thesis on World Town Planning Day-2025. Moreover, I have published in leading journals (Q1 & Q2), presented at AL-MS Chapter 2025 and ARD-2026 conferences, and earned the APA Diversity Scholarship, Black Tie Gala Scholarship and CALNS Student Research Showcase Award.
