Dr. Florina Dutt is an Assistant Professor in Urban Planning, specializing in the application of urban analytics to enhance the quality of life in urban environments. Her research and teaching focus on leveraging computational methods to address urban challenges, such as health and well-being. She employs a unique approach that combines urban analytics with insights from social science to inform urban design and policy. Dr. Dutt received her doctoral degree from the City and Regional Planning School at Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA, where she investigated the impact of the built environment on mental well-being, integrating concepts of mental health into the design of smart and sustainable cities. Her current research is particularly innovative, as it utilizes generative AI (Gen-AI) and large language models (LLMs) to analyze the interplay between social media, built environment data, and urban well-being. She conducts exploratory research using text and image data to uncover new insights into how urban spaces impact mental health and overall well-being. Before her academic career, Dr. Dutt worked as an Urban Designer and Architect in India, China, and the USA, bringing a rich practical perspective to her research endeavors.
