Emily specializes in community and economic development, leading strategic and capital improvement planning efforts as well as downtown development initiatives. With over seven years of experience, including four at Georgia Tech, Emily combines data analysis, mapping, and community engagement to help communities craft actionable plans that foster equity and sustainability.
She has served as principal investigator and task leader on numerous projects, including Georgia AIM, a $65M statewide initiative advancing AI in manufacturing, and strategic plans for cities across Georgia. Emily also supports major infrastructure grant applications and coaches communities in placemaking through the Georgia Economic Placemaking Collaborative (GEPC).
Prior to joining Georgia Tech, Emily worked as a land planning analyst in the private sector, authoring transportation and land use master plans and securing funding for infrastructure projects. She holds a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor’s in Urban Studies from Wayne State University.
Emily is an active member of the American Planning Association (APA)/Georgia Planning Association (GPA), the Georgia Economic Developers Association (GEDA), and the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). She also serves as the Basic Economic Development Course (BEDC) Director. Emily holds an American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification.
