Alia Anderson, AICP is the Director of Planning for Toole Design Group, a national consulting firm that specializes in multimodal transportation planning and design. Alia has worked for 20+ years at the intersection of land use and transportation and helps to oversee Toole Design's talented team of planners. Her technical expertise is broad, including the development of street and roadways design guidance, Safe Routes to School, active transportation planning, TDM, safety action planning, transit-oriented development, and new/emerging modes of mobility. She has helped deliver national research as well as dozens of local/regional plans and policies focused on creating healthy, joyful, and connected communities. Alia is part of Toole Design’s leadership team that oversees how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is used in the company’s technical work. She helped develop the company’s AI principles and policy and is part of testing new AI tools for potential companywide adoption. Alia sees the transformative potential that AI has for our industry but also advocates for strong bumper guards and policies to guide the applications and limitations of AI use in our work and industry.
