Kirsten Compitello, AICP, is an Urban Designer with 15 years of experience supporting community and transportation projects through context sensitive urban design, multimodal corridor planning, and public engagement. Her work includes long range transit plans, corridor studies, station area and streetscape design, comprehensive plans, zoning and form-based code, active and multimodal transportation, urban design, and more. She is currently involved with the City of Pittsburgh's Reconnecting Communities Planning study looking to redesign an urban corridor to reconnect historic neighborhoods divided by a mid-20th century highway; revitalize economic opportunities with new and improved block formation and lot frontages; and provide multimodal and river connectivity.
Ms. Compitello brings strength in integrating clear visual communication to support alternatives development and decision making. Trained as an architect and planner, she combines technical understanding with illustrative graphics and facilitation skills to help multidisciplinary teams advance implementable designs that balance operational needs, safety, and community context. She has participated in numerous charrettes, both nationally and abroad.
She is also serving her second term as Crafton Borough Council Vice President and Infrastructure Committee Chair for the Borough of Crafton where she spearheads the borough’s zoning reform and street safety initiatives.
