Chris Romano, AICP, LEED AP ND, is an Associate Planner at Kittelson & Associates with over 14 years of experience in multimodal transportation planning, safety, and urban design. He has delivered projects from planning through construction across California, Florida, Texas, and Arizona, working in both public agencies and private practice.
Chris specializes in place-based, data-informed transportation solutions, leading multimodal corridor studies, active transportation networks, quick-build safety programs, and area-wide policy frameworks. He is skilled at navigating complex agency environments, building alignment with elected officials, and engaging communities directly in the process.
His public sector background includes managing over $100 million in capital bikeway projects at SANDAG, guiding some of the region's first low-stress facilities through environmental clearance, design, and construction. At Kittelson, his current work includes serving as project manager for Safe Streets for All San Diegans, a federally funded Vision Zero initiative delivering a quick-build program, comprehensive speed management plan, and slow streets program for the City of San Diego. When he is not working, Chris can be found exploring cities on foot or by bike, tasting wine, or traveling somewhere new.
