Allison Waukau (Menominee/Navajo) is the Tribal Liaison & Native Relations Coordinator with the Metropolitan Council in the Twin Cities region. Allison works alongside Tribal Nations, community members, and public agencies to build relationships rooted in respect and reciprocity. She serves in this role to support government-to-government collaboration and uplift Native voices in regional planning.
Allison previously worked at Hennepin County Library as the American Indian Community Liaison, leading culturally grounded outreach and programming. She is the Past President of the American Indian Library Association and was recognized as a Library Journal Mover & Shaker in 2021.
Allison’s work centers on advancing land acknowledgment practices, supporting community-led initiatives, and promoting authentic Native representation in public spaces. She is committed to building bridges between Native communities and institutions, grounded in accountability and sovereignty.
