Hank Kelley, AICP is Deputy Planning Manager for the City of Ann Arbor, where they work closely on organizational development, administration and better land use decisions through updated process and policy. Their team includes 13 full-time staff alongside valued interns who support multiple boards and commissions, subcommittees and specializations.
Over Hank’s career xe has worked for a large transit agency, four cities (small, medium and large) and in the private sector on projects ranging from industrial district strategies to NEPA transit corridor plans. Prior to joining the City of Ann Arbor, Hank served as Senior Policy Analyst for Council Member Santiago-Romero in the City of Detroit. Hank co-developed the council member’s policy agenda, and assisted her in successfully advocating for millions in funding to update the City’s outdated 2009 Master Plan, fund low-income housing, close sidewalk network gaps, and sustain public health programs and immigrant services.
Hank holds a Bachelor’s in Political Science from Wayne State University, and a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Xe is an AICP certified planner, former Leadership NACTO fellow, and former local government appointee to the Governor’s Traffic Safety Advisory Commission for the State of Michigan.
