Mr. Erik J. Aulestia, AICP, Principal, has over 34 years of experience and leads Torti Gallas + Partners’ Planning & Urban Design Group in their Washington, DC office. He has led numerous planning and urban design efforts throughout the United States and abroad. Several have been national award-winning plans including the CNU Charter Award for The Parks-Historic Walter Reed, the CNU Charter Award and FBCI Driehaus Form Based Code Award for the Downtown Wyandanch Revitalization, and CNU Award of Merit for the South Bend West-Side Corridors Plan. He brings creativity, place-making expertise, and a detailed understanding of implementation to arrive at compelling solutions that are equally realizable. His work focuses on Urban Planning (Corridor Plans, Neighborhood Plans, Downtown Plans, Form-Based Codes, and other specialty plans), as well as development plans for Transit Oriented Developments, Mixed-Use Town Centers, Innovation Districts, Neighborhoods, and Master Planned Communities. He also leads the firm's initiatives for Innovation Districts, Healthy Communities, and H.O.D. (Hospital Oriented Development). The H.O.D. Model seeks to transform one of the largest sectors of our economy into an economic development engine, a dynamic and resilient real estate model, an ecologically sound community, and a health-promoting environment.
