Julio Carrillo, AICP, LEED Fellow, is Senior Planner & Manager at Parkhill’s Planning Sector and Lecturer in “AI for Planners” at The University of Texas at Austin, where he guides students in applying AI and machine learning to advance the planning profession. He is a Certified Planner (AICP), Peruvian Architect (CAP), and LEED Accredited Professional. Julio co-founded Peru’s Green Building Council and has chaired Austin’s AIA Urban Design Committee and ULI Austin’s DEI Committee (2022). He currently serves on the board of the Downtown Austin Alliance, and has previously served on the board of APA Central TX (2024–2025). Recognized for his urban design practice, Julio was selected as an International Expert in 2021, leading a research team on future city planning in Asia. In 2023, he was General Rapporteur of the 59th World Planning Congress in Toronto, Canada. He is also founder of the idea behind The Planning Challenge, advancing innovative, data-driven solutions to promote equity, climate resilience, and community impact.
