Director of Economic Development, Planning, Zoning & Urban Design / Assistant Village Manager
Village of West Dundee
West Dundee, Illinois
Timothy J. Scott is the Director of Economic Development, Planning, Zoning & Urban Design and Assistant Village Manager for the Village of West Dundee, a charming and historic community of approximately 8,372 residents located along the Fox River about 25 miles northwest of O’Hare.
A multi-disciplinary practitioner, Tim has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) for 20 years and an Accredited Member of the Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU-A) for 15 years.
Prior to arriving at planning as a vocation, Tim was a marketer for large telecommunication companies and at a small agency. Having witnessed the decline of an iconic 1962 mall in his Chicagoland hometown, Tim elevated his interest in remaking these evolving areas while in graduate planning school. He is currently helping to reimagine a site that had been occupied by a 1980s-era mall in the center of West Dundee.
Tim has extensive experience in physical planning and economic development, facilitating single-family, multi-family, commercial, mixed-use, light industrial, and rehabilitation projects. Believing strongly that the built environment and community vitality are inextricably linked, he employs a wide range of techniques to encourage private investment with the overriding ambition of creating lasting value.
