Mackenzie received her Master of Arts degree in Social Innovation and Sustainability Leadership from Edgewood University in Madison, WI, in 2018 and her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Sustainability, and Environmental Studies from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2016.
As Market Manager of State and Local Government, Mackenzie leads USGBC's Local Government Leadership Program, including the annual certification cohort and accelerators where she supports local governments in their efforts to certify in LEED v4.1 Cities and Communities: Existing Cities rating system. She specializes in facilitating collaboration, technical assistance, and developing content to reduce barriers experienced by local governments in effort to advance their sustainability goals.
Mackenzie also serves as the District 8 Council Member for the City of La Crosse, WI, where she chairs the Climate Action Plan Steering Committee, Judiciary & Administration Committee, and Heritage Preservation Commission. During her first term, she co-led the planning and creation of the City of La Crosse's Climate Action Plan, adopted in January of 2023, and continues to work to institutionalize sustainability across the organization in an effort to ensure La Crosse is a healthy, resilient, and safe community for all residents.
