Paul Onyx Lozito, AICP is Deputy Executive Director for Planning, Adaptation, and Environmental Justice at the New York City Mayor's Office of Climate and Environmental Justice (MOCEJ), where he leads the city's climate adaptation and environmental justice initiatives. His recent work spans urban forest planning, climate-adaptive and community-centered resilience planning across New York City's most vulnerable neighborhoods.Paul is currently President of the American Planning Association – New York Metropolitan Chapter.
Prior to MOCEJ, Paul spent over a decade at the New York State Governor's Office of Storm Recovery (GOSR), where he served as Chief Strategy and Program Officer. At GOSR, he oversaw the Housing, Buyout, and Acquisition Programs division, along with the Rebuild by Design and National Disaster Resiliency grants. His work included the NY Rising Housing Recovery Program and the Buyout and Acqusition Program which included the largest buyout in the City. He also oversaw the construction of the Living Breakwaters.
Paul has served on community boards, historic preservation bodies, and good government organizations throughout his career. A proud public shcool graduate, Paul holds a B.A. from Rutgers' Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy and an M.U.P. from Hunter College's Urban Policy and Planning Program.
