Kevin P. Costello, AICP is Executive Director of the Boone County Planning Commission in Burlington, Kentucky (Cincinnati MSA). He manages a $2.5 million budget and 15 employees. Under his leadership, he has been involved in several updates of the Boone County Comprehesive Plan and created a countywide GIS and a historic preservation program. In addition, he has been involved in mutliple updates of the zoning and subdivision regulations as well as several land use and zoning corridor and interchange studies. Other accomplishments involve creating a public improvement inspection program and helping secure school, library and fire district sites because of growth. Past work experience has also included economic development in southeastern Ohio and preservation work for a land trust in Cincinnati. Kevin has a Master's Degree in Community Planning from the University of Cincinnati and a Bachelor"s Degree in Political Science/Urban Affairs from Marquette University. He has served as President, Vice-President and Treasurer of the Kentucky Chapter of the American Planning Association. He played an instrumental role in passing laws for continuning education and cell tower legislation in Kentucky. Finally, Kevin served on the APA Awards Jury and his Planning Commission has won numerous awards in the past 25 years.
