Erin Thoresen, AICP - Erin is an experienced project manager and planner in Gresham Smith’s Transportation Market, where she currently leads the Georgia planning team. Her broad background includes a degree in art and art history and nonprofit work in community and environmental planning. Motivated by her love of cities, travel, and pondering what makes a great place, she got into planning as a way to help improve communities for future generations, with a focus on multimodal mobility and safety. Her experience includes freight plans, corridor studies, small area plans, countywide plans, and trail scoping studies for a range of clients at the local, regional, and statewide levels. Recent projects include the Macon Area Transportation Study (MATS) 2050 Regional Freight Plan and the award-winning Freight ATL: Northwest. Erin’s current responsibilities include business development and strategy for the planning department, leading a team of planners, managing projects, and collaborating with other leaders in Gresham Smith’s Transportation Market. She is active in the firm’s mentorship program and Employee Resource Networks, and chairs the Georgia Planning Association’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion committee. Erin lives in Atlanta with her partner and enjoys hiking, travel, and cooking in her spare time.
