Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia
Steve Nygren is the Town Founder and Managing Partner of Serenbe, the community leading the wellness, biophilic design real estate, and agrihood movements in southwest Atlanta. He is a partner in Nygren Placemaking, a consulting firm advising developers and local governments, and is a serial hospitality entrepreneur.
In the 1970s, he founded Peasant Restaurants, a 34 restaurant hospitality group, and retired to his weekend farm in 1994. In 2001, he led the effort to create the Chattahoochee Hill Country Alliance, bringing together more than 500 landowners, developers, and conservationists to establish a mutually agreed upon plan for balanced growth across 40,000 acres. This collaboration resulted in a historic Georgia land use plan preserving 70 percent of the acreage on the edge of metro Atlanta while allowing 20 percent more housing per square mile than conventional suburban development.
Steve serves on multiple local and national boards focused on children, agriculture, land use, environmental stewardship, and marketing. These include Children and Nature Network, (former Chairman of the Board), Chattahoochee Now Founding Chairman, The Biophilic Institute Founding Chair, Midtown Alliance (former Chairman of the Board, and the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau (former Chairman of the Board).
