Edwina S. King, JD is a native Detroiter who has made it her mission to give back to the city that gave her so much. With eighteen years of experience, she is the Associate Director of Legislative Affairs & Equitable Development for the City of Detroit's Planning and Development Department. She leads the department's legislative activities including briefings and policy recommendations regarding urban planning and community engagement via the Community Benefits Ordinance, Community Outreach Ordinance and other special projects. She is passionate about equity & urban planning and works tirelessly to ensure that every neighborhood has a future. Edwina earned a BA in Political Science with a concentration in Black Politics from Howard University, a JD from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and a Certificate in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace from the University of South Florida - Muma School of Business. She is a member of several civic, professional, and community based organizations including Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity, Inc., New Leaders Council, NAACP, UNCF, The Association of Black Law Alumni at University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and the Michigan Municipal League - Economic Development Subcommittee.
