Ted Schultz is the Enterprise GIS Team Supervisor for the City of Detroit Department of Innovation and Technology, where he leads a nine-person team with a mission “…to serve City of Detroit residents by leveraging geospatial technology and data to empower effective city operations, informed decision-making, awareness, and innovation.”
With nearly 20 years of experience in geospatial technology, Ted has contributed to Detroit’s GIS transformation through data analysis, operations support, platform building, and leadership. The notable Detroit Street View program has captured >15 million panoramic images and mobile LiDAR data citywide.
Under Ted’s leadership, the Enterprise GIS team has earned broad recognition, including the IMAGIN GIS Innovation Award, Esri’s Special Achievement in GIS Award, and multiple features in industry articles and blogs. Ted believes that people are inherently geospatial beings and that government should be grounded in awareness of ‘lived’ experience.
