City of Pontiac Community Development Department
Detroit, Michigan
Michael Boettcher has worked in urban planning and community and economic development for more than 25 years, including almost a decade with the City of Detroit Planning and just a short time with the City of Pontiac Community Development Department so far. Over that time, he’s helped write master plans and zoning ordinances, run two downtown development agencies, handheld developers through approval processes, and facilitated park development in an underserved Detroit neighborhood. For even longer, Michael has been a volunteer and freelance Detroit area tour guide, showing off his hometown’s amazing architecture, incredible history and gradual redevelopment. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and a Master of Urban Planning from Wayne State University and volunteers with several civicminded organizations, including the Michigan Association of Planning Metro Detroit Planners Section.
